Direct buried cable fault tester

Directly buried cables, the vast majority of faults can be completed using traditional cable fault testers. The naming of the instrument directly based on the cable laying method is due to different fault testing principles used. In general, the fault location method used by the direct buried cable fault tester is the step voltage method. Its working principle is to apply a fixed voltage signal to the grounding cable wire, forming an electric field on the ground around the grounding point. The closer to the fault point, the greater the potential difference between the same distance, and vice versa. Based on this principle, the ground fault point can be found.
The rough measurement of fault distance can use pulse reflection method or electric bridge method, depending on how the manufacturer matches it. The direct buried cable fault tester we commonly refer to is a set of step voltage fixed point system, which includes two parts: voltage transmitter and step voltage receiver, and does not include fault rough testing and path testing functions.
Buried cable and wire faults with low grounding resistance can be tested using a direct buried cable fault tester. However, the limitations of using this instrument to detect faults in buried cables and wires are also very significant. Because in cable faults, the grounding resistance at most fault points is very high, usually with low values of tens of kiloohms and high values of several megaohms or even hundreds of megaohms. Therefore, using this type of instrument to eliminate high resistance faults has lower efficiency, higher misjudgment rate, and greater limitations in instrument use.
